I'm just curious but next to the post count, the little green square that says " this person is on a distinguished road" what is that all about?

It's your reputation. Click http://thyelite.com/mainframe/buttons/reputation.gif this buttons to contribute to someone's reputation which will ultimately add more green bars next to their name and change what the alternative text says.
