I believe Tom really got sued. I am kind of surprised mycoke would take the time to sue anyone but the fact that his site is closed and he hasnt been on msn makes me wonder. If I was sued for $4,000 because I created a site with a copyrighted name, knowing its copyrighted. To top that my site had cheats & filters related to the copyrighted site name. My parent would probly get the internet cut off and throw my pc out the window. I wouldnt blame them because $4,000 is a lot of money to waste with school starting & gas prices.

1. MyCoke gives all users a 30 day notice to remove their content before taking any action.
2. Tom's parents probably saw this and freaked. They made him take his site down and grounded him from the computer. 3. Coke wouldn't do shit, even if they could. |
Yes, but has there been any clarification? Seriously, there hasn't. I'll do a google search... but I dunno. Maybe his computer broke or something, and he hasnt the time to fix it, and maybe he wasnt able to pay the fee for the site, and since his computer was broken, he wouldnt be on MSN. But even if that were the case, I doubt the site would say, "This forum is currently unavailable."
So I dunno if rumors should be going around about this, if there was no clarification that he was sued. Coke also may have reported to Macromedia/Adobe about the Photoshop CS2 download. Since coke uses shockwave, they problably had some type of affiliation. And since Shockwave is owned by Macromedia, now Adobe, they may have taken action. I'm not sure, but that may be the real reason. Even if it isnt, we have no clue as to what it really is yet. |
I dont know because I dont know what type of parents he have. My parents have very low knowledge of computer use. They can go to websites & check email but they dont even know what a "domain" is unless I explain its to them. They wouldnt know if my site was closed or open.
Then again if they knew a lot about computers they probly wouldnt freak out and make him close his site. I also dont believe they would ground him for some threat. |
to go along with what vis said...
