Need Virus/spyware Help!!!
 

Its not for me.. One of my friends said she keeps getting a "popup" about 4-5 times an hour on her computer and its not on the internet. She said this popup says:

"messenger service

message from system to inform you about virus detections on 7/25/2006 12:38:15am

windows has detected critical registry errors.
Visit www.registryrepairxp.com to repair errors

Failure to repair will result in:
1)Hacker access to computer
2)File loss
3)Slow computer performance"

Im thinking its spyware but what should she do?

have her download the following programs and run them:

ad-aware personal

microsoft antispyware

You can never run too many scans. A scanner doesn't pick up all viruses but more and more of them together will sure help out your chance of getting rid of it. Also, check to make sure it didn't chance your desktop to active desktop. Another thing is to check your processes. I suggest WinTasks for that. Another good scanner Avast.
