The reason they have so many is because they are respectable communities. Spam forums deter dignified posters from joining. People like me. I spend a lot of my time on the internet on forums, when a forum has a Spam forum, it makes it that much less desirable to join. And it's not just me that's like that, every young gun forum thinks it's a good idea, and that's why they have no members.

I didn't spend the last four years studying web analytics, CSS compliancy, HTML regulation, internet culture, and usability design to be on the same level as everyone else. A spam forum is incentive to post unintelligently, gives me a reason not to moderate a particular forum, and will waste bandwidth and space.
